ImageShack Hacked by Anti-Sec Activists

ImageShack was hacked by members of the anti-sec movement. Previous critiques of full disclosure have often focused on the use of it to sustain those in power and this one is not different. Here is what the hacked page says (or rather, what an image on the hacked site said). The original image is attached.

ImageShack Proudly Presents....

Anti-Sec. We're a movement dedicated to the eradication of full-disclosure. We wanted to give everybody an image of what we're all about.

Full-disclosure is the disclosure of exploits publicly - anywhere. The security industry uses full-disclosure to profit and develop scare-tactics to convince people into buying their firwalls, anti-virus software, and auditing services.

Meanwhile, script kiddies copy and paste these exploits and compile them, ready to strike any and all vulnerable servers they can get a hold of. If whitehats were truly about security this stuff would not be published, not even exploits with silly edits that make them slightly unusable.

As an added bonus, if publication wasn't enough, these exploits are mirrored and distributed widely across the Internet with a nice little advertisement embedded in them for the crew or website which first exposed the vulnerability to the public.

It's about money. While the world is difficult to change, and money will certainly continue to be important in the eyes of many, our battle is that of the removal of full-disclosure for the purposes of making it harder for the security industry to exploit its consequences.

It is our goal that, through mayhem and destruction of all exploitive and detrimental communities, companies, and individuals, full disclosure will be abandoned and the security industry will be forced to reform.

How do we plan to achieve this? Through the full and unrelenting, unmerciful elimination of all supporters of full-disclosure and the security industry in its present form. If you own a security blog, an exploit publication website or you distribute any exploits... "you are a target and will be rm'd. Only a matter of time."

This isn't like before. This time everyone and everything is getting owned.

Reports are comming in of fiber cables being cut in and around santa cruz, the cables are owned by AT&T, and cutting them took down telephone services in the area

from sfgate:

Four AT&T fiber-optic cables in an underground vault were severed shortly before 1:30 a.m. along Monterey Highway north of Blossom Hill Road in south San Jose, police Sgt. Ronnie Lopez said. Four more underground cables, at least two of which belong to AT&T, were cut about two hours later along Old County Road near Bing Street in San Carlos, authorities said. John Britton, spokesman for AT&T, said, "Clearly, we have some vandalism. Someone purposefully and deliberately cut the wires." He added, "We can't speculate about any connection, but the method of operation appears to be the same." Britton said the four cables that were cut in San Jose were about the width of a silver dollar and were encased in tough plastic sheath. One cable contained 360 fibers, and the other three had 48 fibers each. In both instances, saboteurs had to use a piece of equipment to lift heavy manhole covers and climb down several feet to get to the cables. They would have to have been equipped with heavy-duty cutting equipment to slice through the thick cable coating. Police in San Jose and San Carlos are sharing information, said Cmdr. Rich Cinfio, a spokesman for San Carlos police. Investigators said they had no suspects in either act of vandalism. AT&T announced a $100,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the perpetrators.

Speculation has arisen about who could have done it, with a recent contract failing being a prime suspect.

Google Street View Car Attacked

from http://anarchistnews.org/?q=node/7131 "A gang of angry Luddites in Ye Olde Middle England have set upon an innocent Google Street View car driver in an attempt to save their lives from ruin. "Angry villagers formed a human chain to thwart the progress of a Google Street View car that was in the process of taking photographs of their homes," reads a report in The Times. Police were soon on the scene in the leafy village of Broughton in deepest Buckinghamshire with the "furious villagers" blocking the progress of the Google Street View car."

ECD in solidarity with Greek uprising

We recieved the following tip today:

***PLEASE SPREAD FAR AND WIDE! WE NEED AS MANY PEOPLE AS WE CAN GET!***
International Electronic Civil Disobedience in Solidarity with Greek Anarchists

Hackers Against Oppression have called for Electronic Civil Disobedience in Solidarity with Greek Anarchists on Wednesday Dec 31, the final day of December. December is the month in which Alexandros Grigoropoulos, a 15-year-old Anarchist, was murdered in cold blood by Greek Police. It is also the month that will forever be remembered by all those who struggle. Minutes after his murder, thousands of Greek residents took to the streets as did thousands around the world. Even liberal groups have called for the resignation of the Greek government. The streets were taken back for the people, police buildings were firebombed, and banks were turned into empty charred-out boxes. This entire time, the Greek government has been fighting and oppressing people with guns, tear gas, and the media. It's time that we take them down.

We will be attacking the websites of the Greek Police and the Prime Minister. They are directly responsible and we will directly respond. They will no longer be able to spread their lies to the media about what is going on in the streets. You can either load the file on the day of the action or download it ahead of time. We suggest downloading it ahead of time in the event that our site get shut down.

Please download the file you will need from one of the following mirrors we have set up. When the time comes, open it in your web browser ( ie Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer) and help us take them down! This action is part of a series of actions that will unfold over the next few weeks, targeting those who participate in and benefit from oppression.

You can also just open www.primeminister.gr and www.astynomia.gr in your browser and keep refreshing them. There are plenty of add-ons for Firefox that will do this. Just go to Tools>Add-ons and search for it. This will be a useful tool in further actions.

Send shoes to the Bush presidential library

A campaign is being organized for people to send their old shoes to the presidential library as a guesture of disrespect and solidarity with the now infamous shoe thrower Muntadhar al Zaidi.  Presumably they will go next to the pretzels.  Here is the address:

George W. Bush Presidential Library
c/o SMU
6425 Boaz Lane
Dallas TX 75205

This guy could probably use some solidarity right now since he is most likely being tortured.

UC Berkeley Vivisector gets a virus

A group called Hackers For Total Liberation is claiming responsibility for sending a computer virus to several UC Berkeley animal researchers who are responsible for the vivisection of animals for 'scientific' tests.  The group made this press release:

"UC Berkeley vivisector Ralph Freeman and all of the current lab members in Freeman's Visual Neuroscience Lab (http://neurovision.berkeley.edu) were sent a trojan horse virus embedded into email. This virus is designed to completely wreck their computers while leeching all vital personal information they've ever entered into their systems. It is time to buy new computers, and after that, save yourself the hassle that will follow and get the fuck out of this cat killing lab. The lab where kittens as young as six weeks live in daily fear and trauma from the violence that you are responsible for. The cats in stereotaxic devices with holes drilled into their skulls are what drives us and we will do anything to end your torture. We've read the past communiques where other anonymous activists have visited Freeman's home and broken windows, with this action we want to send the message loud and clear that those who torture non-humans to death are not safe at home nor at work. We will go on the offensive against every form of oppression that surrounds; whether it be racism, sexism, homophobia, or speciesism. In addition to Freeman (freeman [at] neurovision.berkeley.edu), we sent the virus to Brian Pasley, Thang Duong, Elena Allen, Nina Yang, Lars Eric Holm, BaoWang Li, and Ahalya Viswanathan. This action is dedicated to all those fighting for primate freedom at UCLA and all those who have taken action as of late against the animal murder industries in Central and South America. It is for the billions of animals currently enslaved."

This is an interesting development and we have to wonder if more animal rights activists will take this road.  Of course a more interesting virus might be one that slips in a fake order to stop all animal testing immediately and release all the test subjects.
